Relationships are everything

On a recent episode of Blogcast FM with Srinivas Rao, Simon Sinek discuss human relationships and how they provide the energy we all need to continue moving forward:

Humans are constantly looking to build relationships. At the end of the day, it is relationships –– it is community –– that helps us survive.

Solo entrepreneurship is a fools game. Sure, you can make some money and tell yourself that you get to be your own boss. But those days when things go wrong and your by yourself? It’s heart-wrenching. It requires vast amounts of energy to keep going when you don’t think you can do it. This is why partnership is important. Having someone close to you that will say “No, I believe in you. Let’s do this. We can do this together” is vital to your success.

It always human beings and human relationships that help us solve our problems. If we don’t believe we can, but someone else does believe we can, it empowers us.

You Gotta Believe In Something

If you don’t believe in magic on some level, your art probably sucks. You gotta believe in some kind of magic. I don’t mean god. Whatever you’re into. If you’re not inspiried, if you’re heart’s not lifted by some supernatural thing that you have witnessed or you believe in, real or not, you’re probably going to be focusing on your looks, your money. There’s going to be something you’re focusing on that has no heart.

The Best $1000 Investment In Your Programming Career

Over the past five years my time spent in front of a computer has dramatically increased. Work started right after school ended. There have been very few days during this time that did not involve typing. Unfortunately, all this typing led to developing pains in my wrists and forearms. I knew these pains were not something to mess around with, but it took some effort before I decided to actually do something. I attempted to tough it out. My pigheadedness lasted until things became pretty uncomfortable.

How to Start a Blog

Writing is hard. Publishing what you write is even harder. You will not be great right away. You may not even be good. There is only one way to become great at something: start, then iterate.

I had a tough time starting this blog, as I do with everything, because I hold very high, unrealistic, standards for myself. I set myself up for failure before I even begin, caught up in unnecessary details that will probably never matter.
